Computation to Construction (and back again)
Abstract:
This construction experiment was the culmination of research that was prompted by the failures encountered on Mfangano Island while building the EKFM Radio Studio. The project presented an innovative process from designing high-performance thin-tile vaults that brought to light the relationship between computation and material construction. The structural, material and constructive capacities of computationally derived vaults that deviate from simple traditional forms were explored.
